TTD Brahmotsavam 2021: Here Is All You Need To Know

Tirupati

“Brahmotsava” which literally means “Brahma’s Utsavam” is one of the most magnificent festivals of India held in the pilgrim town of Tirupati. The Navrathri Brahmotsavam in Tirupati is celebrated every year during the Navratris with zest and zeal. It is a nine-day celebration that is held to honor Lord Srinivasa’s self-manifestation in the leadership of Lord Brahma. During this nine-day celebration, Lord Venkateshwara is taken out on different chariots in the bustling streets of Tirupati that is thronged by millions of devotees just to get a glimpse of the diety during this time.

Historic Significance

According to the legend, the festival is associated with Lord Brahma – one of the three main gods in Hindu mythology. It is said that it was Lord Brahma who conducted the first festival in Tirupati when he worshipped Sri Balaji near the holy Pushkarini River.

The importance of this festival can be seen in the fact that thousands of pilgrims flock to Tirupati Tirumala to witness this majestic festival held in the month of October. The nine-days of the Navrathri are celebrated with various rites and rituals.

TTD Brahmotsavam 2021

It is that time of the year again and devotees will be visiting Tirupati for Tirumala Tirupati Brahmotsavam Dates 2021. The main motive of this festival is to experience a heavenly connection and blissfulness of the universal power, also known as Vaikuntha Anubhav. On the first day of the festival, the Anurarpana ritual takes place signifying abundance, prosperity, and fertility.

At the Gurudadhwaj Festival, a procession of Lord Venkateshwara proceeds on Pedda Seshavahana to cover the four streets near the temple that goes on till midnight. It is believed that the snake of god alters itself as the vehicle of God during this time.

The next morning, the procession takes place on Chinna Sesha Vahana and at night on Hamsa Vahana. Similarly, for nine-days, every day and night the deity rides on different chariots such as Kalpa Vruksha Vahanam, Surya Prabha Vahanam, Gaja Vahanam, Chandra Vahanam, Garuda Vahanam, Ashwa Vahanam, and so on.

On the 6th day, Lord Venkateshwara along with his consorts rides on the Swarna Rathostavamv meaning the Golden Chariot. The golden sheen emitting in the sun from the chariot is presented as a feast to the eyes of the devotees. The festival of the golden chariot takes place after the spring festival called as Swarna Ratha Ranga Dolotsava.

On the last day, the events start with a morning procession called the Chakra Snanam, and Brahmotsav ends with Tiruchi Utsavam.
