The massive fort is located on two hillocks and is a testimony to the Battle of Sitabuldi in 1817. Originally built by an officer of the British India Company, the fort was reconstructed by the Mudhoji II Bhonsle, a Maratha ruler of the Nagpur province. It is an enormous stone structure that consists of a palace, a mosque, and few tombs of the Mysore Nawabs and soldiers of the Anglo Maratha war. The ancient temple presents a striking piece of architecture located in a remote village, 35 km away from Nagpur. It features a stunning and huge statue of Lord Ganesha. The shrine is situated on top of a small hill that can be reached via a flight of almost 50 stars. It has immense mythological significance as it is believed to be the place where Lord Rama took rest while he was in exile with his wife and brother. Also, it is the place where the famous Kalidasa wrote ‘Meghdoot.’ The 600 year old temple is known for its 250 feet tall OM structure that is adorned with portrayals from Ramayana. It consists of a huge water tank, called the Ambala Talab, often used for dipping the ashes of the dead.

 

4. Dragon Palace Temple

Also known as the Lotus temple of Nagpur, Dragon Palace temple is one of the most popular Buddhist temples situated in Kamptee, Nagpur. The beautiful temple built by Ogawa Society of Japan in 1999 is a treat for architecture lovers. Sprawling across 10 acres of lush green gardens, the temple houses a massive Buddha statue carved out of a single sandalwood block. The quaint landscape and placid atmosphere make it a must-visit place.
